Principal's Message

I recently completed my first year as principal of Borland Manor Elementary. I was drawn to the District because of its clear vision, forward-thinking leadership and strong sense of community. When looking for a District to call home, it was important to me to find one where I could continue to grow professionally while also feeling supported and valued in my role. Canon-McMillan has proven to be the best environment for this. Our District emphasizes collaboration, innovation and student-centered decision-making.

My vision for Borland Manor Elementary is to create a safe, welcoming and student-centered environment where all children are empowered to thrive both academically and socially. I am committed to laying a strong academic foundation while nurturing curiosity, confidence and a love of learning.

As a school community, we will continue to enhance instructional practices through targeted professional development and collaborative peer learning. We are committed to fostering strong partnerships with families and the broader community to educate the whole child and support the learning experience.

As we prepare for the transition to the new Wylandville, we will work together to ensure a smooth, thoughtful and unified experience for students, staff and families. This shared journey reflects our belief in preparing learners to think critically, work collaboratively and grow into lifelong learners.

At Borland Manor Elementary, we work hard to ensure that every student feels valued, included and connected to the school community. Through our school-wide Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program, we celebrate positive behavior and recognize students for their unique strengths and contributions. We listen to their voices, incorporate their ideas and continuously strive to make school a place where learning is joyful and engaging. From the moment students walk through the doors, they are greeted with care, kindness and genuine enthusiasm. Every interaction is an opportunity to build trust, foster belonging and remind each student that they matter.

The culture at our school is inclusive and student-centered. We take pride in creating a supportive environment where everyone feels welcomed, respected and empowered to grow. Relationships are at the heart of our culture, and our staff work together to foster a sense of belonging, celebrate success and promote a love of learning.

What I enjoy most about the Canon-McMillan School District is the people—the students, staff, families and community. There is a genuine sense of pride and purpose that drives everything we do. Each day brings the chance to connect, lead with heart and help shape the school culture where learning is exciting and everyone feels like they belong. Being part of something bigger, with a team that is committed to making a difference, makes this work truly meaningful.
